Vacancy Details and Pay Scale
The Indian Coast Guard has announced 630 vacancies, divided into two batches—CGEPT-01/26 and CGEPT-02/26. For General Duty there are 520 posts 260 in each batch), while Domestic Branch) has 50 posts in the second batch. The General Duty category has 60 vacancies (Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronics). Selected candidates for these posts will get salary and additional benefits. Navik (GD/DB) recruits will get ₹21,700 (Pay Level-3) + allowances, while Yantrik personnel will earn ₹29,200 (Pay Level-5) + ₹6,200 Yantrik Pay + allowances. Other incentives include free ration, medical care, accommodation, insurance cover of ₹75 lakhs, and pension benefits.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for these posts, candidates should have specific educational and age eligibility. For Navik (General Duty), applicants must have passed 12th class with Maths and Physics from a recognized board. Navik (Domestic Branch) students should have passed 10th class, while Yantrik candidates should have a diploma in Electrical/Mechanical/Electronics/Telecommunication Engineering from an AICTE-approved institute. The age limit for Navik (GD & DB) is 18 to 22 years (born between 1st Aug 2004 and 1st Aug 2008). For Yantrik, the age limit is the same, but the birth date should fall between 1st Mar 2004 and 1st Mar 2008. SC/ST candidates get a 5-year relaxation, while OBC (Non-creamy layer) candidates get 3 years. Physical fitness is important , and candidates should be medically fit as per the Indian Coast Guard job notification .
Apply and Selection Process
The application process is only online and should be completed on the official website (joinindiancoastguard.cdac.in/cgept) between 11th and 25th June 2025. General/OBC/EWS candidates need to pay a ₹300 application form fee, while SC/ST candidates are exempted from paying any application fee. The selection process includes four stages: a computer-based test, physical fitness test, medical examination, and document verification after final selection . Selected candidates will get training at INS Chilka , from February 2026 (Batch 01) and July 2026 (Batch 02). Post-training, candidates will be posted as per requirements.
